Child Labor Laws Under COVID-19 Do Not Change: A student under 16 years of age is not allowed to work more than 3 hours per day Monday – Friday and they cannot work before 7:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m. They are allowed to work Saturday and Sunday. They are not allowed to work more than 18 hours per week. These restrictions are applicable between Labor Day and May 31. There are no specific hourly restrictions for 16 and 17 year-olds.
